Laws, ordinances, and zoning plans determine where construction is allowed and which technical requirements buildings must meet. Environmental and water permits regulate activities of larger companies, often with highly technical provisions on noise, emissions, odor, and soil. In addition, entrepreneurs are responsible for the safety of employees and visitors, as well as product safety. Jos Webbink has more than 15 years of experience litigating and advising on these regulations and knows how to navigate them on behalf of his clients.

FJW legal has extensive experience with the legal aspects of (renewable) energy and (telecom) infrastructure.

Throughout his legal career, Jos Webbink has supported companies in the telecom sector on infrastructure matters. He has broad experience with disputes concerning antenna installations and is a specialist in the construction and relocation of telecom cables. He has published extensively on this subject. Recently he authored a chapter on these topics in the recently published Introduction to Telecommunications Law.

In the energy sector, a wide range of issues arise: disputes with grid operators about connections and tariffs, obtaining exemptions for private gas and electricity networks, conflicts with energy suppliers, or proceedings concerning the construction of solar parks or wind turbines. This field of law is constantly evolving, partly due to the strong focus on energy conservation and renewable energy. Jos Webbink closely follows these developments. For several years, he served as editorial secretary of the Netherlands Journal of Energy Law. Recently, he published an article in this journal on new legislation regarding the exploration and production of geothermal energy.

Authorities have a wide range of powers to address violations. They can issue warnings, impose administrative enforcement orders and penalty payments, and levy fines. In the fields of environmental protection and occupational safety, violations are often followed by criminal prosecution.

A significant part of FJW legal’s practice involves assisting companies and individuals in their dealings with central government, municipalities, provinces, and water boards. Jos Webbink supports his clients during inspections, hearings, permit applications, and objection and/or appeal procedures. Before becoming a lawyer, he worked for ten years at the City of Amsterdam, where he gained firsthand insight into how government functions in practice.
